After a Diploma in performance from the prestigious K. M. Music Conservatory, Chennai, India (founded by A. R. Rahman), Suyash went to Middlesex University in London for his Bachelors Degree in Music Performance specialising in percussion.
Since his graduation, Suyash has performed and toured extensively with various artists across the country as a drummer. Most notably, he has had the privilege of performing with A. R. Rahman on stage as well as in his Coke Studio session. Suyash has frequently performed with the Symphony Orchestra of India housed at the National Centre for Performing Arts in Mumbai. He has also performed with various bands and artists like Hriday Gattani, Lawntuba and currently is a full time member of ambient/post-rock band The Flying Fish, indie/dream-pop band Fox in the Garden and alternative/progressive metal band Festacorn.
Suyash’s live drum n’ bass project showcases his own unique sound and takes inspiration from various musical styles including rock, electronic music, jazz and contemporary Western Classical. These influences culminate into fast paced, high-energy music, with groovy baselines, catchy melodies and experimental soundscapes. Suyash tries to push the boundaries into more experimental music while making sure that his sound and style is easily accessible to everyone. This ability to effortlessly fuse disparate musical elements has garnered him a dedicated and growing appreciation.
Suyash’s drum n’ bass performances are captivating spectacles, often featuring dynamic visuals and immersive audio experiences that transport audiences into a unique musical experience which captivates them with his genre-defying compositions. Suyash is poised to make a lasting impact and establish himself as a force to be reckoned with in the world of contemporary music.
Teaching drums has been a huge part of Suyash's personal development as a musician, something he enjoys tremendously. After a short stint at the SoundMonk School of Music as the head of the drum-set vertical, he decided to focus on personal coaching. In over a decade of teaching, Suyash's teaching methodology has evolved to focus on the kind of music and skills that the student is interested in. Suyash's teaching methodology relies on tools he picked up during his years in music college along with his diverse, cross-genre performance training and experience. Suyash brings a unique ability to customise and adapt his training to individual needs and helps students develop the ability to listen, interpret, read, write and express creatively while constantly finding new challenges to overcome. His students range from young beginners to trained percussionists wanting help to improve their techniques and performance.
